Summary: QUALITY FUN 2008-01-10
Comment: Surprisingly powerful; will pierce through a paint can with ease. The long barrel and wood stock gives the feel of a higher caliber rifle. The Turk made break barrel gives the power in one movement. Just keep the hinges lightly oiled and there's no need to disassemble or adjust. It's my second purchase; the 1000sb black plastic stocked rifle is light and durable.

Summary: Poor Trigger says it all 2007-01-18
Comment: I bought this rifle at a local dealer to replace an older Daisy 753. I bought the gun based on the Winchester "name brand" and the beautiful wood stock. I was disappointed!
At home I realized the rifle was a Daisy product made in Turkey. It has a nylon trigger with an adjustment screw, not even mentioned in the Daisy Owner's Manual. Look for the Hatsan 55W Owner's Manual for a better introduction to the rifle features. There is no illustrated parts diagram or picture of the rifle internals. Daisy does not supply parts for the rifle except for the breech seal, according to "Mike" at Daisy Customer Service "they don't want customers working on the rifle because of the dangerous spring." This is a barrel break spring rifle with a large spring used for power.
The trigger, on my rifle, had a pull of about 16 lbs. determined with a standard trigger pull spring guage, by Winchester. The adjustment screw does function to limit or lengthen the trigger pull (distance you pull the trigger before the rifle fires). When I called Mike at Daisy I was told this is within the range and if I returned the rifle and they agreed with my measurement the rifle would be replaced with another rifle. Mikle stated that they don't work on these Turkish rifles, just replace them.
The sights on my rifle worked. The rear sight is a plastic assembly that sets windage and distance. But it mounts with a single screw and has no index to the barrel which allows about an 1/8 inch left or right movement when touched. Overall, try another brand where the manufacturer works on the rifle!
