In the army, he designed a device to count the number of shots fired by a tank as well as other useful tactical devices for tanks. After surviving fierce battles against the Nazi's in 1941 as a tank commander, he found himself in hospital recovering from serious wounds and battle fatigue. Here at the hospital he began to conceive ideas for a new machine gun which could provide high volume, light weight firepower for soldiers in mechanized infantry. While on temporary medical duty, stationed at Matai, he took advantage of the workshop facilities to prototype his weapon. In 1944 his first prototype was adopted for further development and finally in 1949 the soviet army adopted the Automatic Kalashnikov design of 1947 as their standard rifle. As of 1990, more than 70 million Kalashnikov automatic rifles of various designs had been produced. M.T. Kalashnikov was a self taught inventor.... I have gone through 3 airsoft rifles. All were either made of plastic, innaccurate, and didnt last long. Then I found this one. It is the best gun ever !
For starters, it weighs about 8 pounds so its pretty hefty. The stock is ALL wood. The barrel, reciever cover, trigger, magazine, and sights ar all metal. And since it is 1:1 scale, you can put parts from an actual ak onto it. the battery life is pretty decent, I empty two full magazines when its fully charged. But when you change the fuse, it lasts longer, i now go through about 3 1/2 magazines full.It has about 498 fps with .12g bbs and about 400 fps with .25 gram so its pretty accurate. It will put holes in an aluminum can if your close enough. the blowback feature is pretty cool, though it doesn't have the kick of one, but it looks like the actual thing. Though the only trouble i had wiht it was with a little lever thing next to the sight. The screw to that was very loose, so i lost it. Luckily, it played no major part in...Read more
