Gamo Whisper Royal air rifle

I have owned a Crossman 760 pump air rifle for years. I decided to get a more serious and powerful air gun. I chose the Whisper Royal. The rifle appears to be made well. I have never gone through the job of sighting in a scope before, and the instructions supplied by Gamo left a lot to be desired. I got some help from an article on the internet. Once sighted in, the gun is very accurate. But the scope will lose focus past, say, 5x magnification when trying to zoom in on your target.

The noise level was incredible the first time I shot it, but it started to quiet down the more I used it. The sound is reflected back at the shooter and not totally forward. I did not want to scare the neighbors since the sound using PBA ammo is very similar to a .22 caliber rifle. For the ranges that I am shooting the varmints in my yard, I wanted to use the fixed sights and removed the scope.
