Product Description
Power to spare! The Gamo Hunter Sport sends pellets flying at 1,200 fps. This rifle is a spring-piston breakbarrel gun and comes with a 3-9x40mm BSA scope and rings. The fluted bull barrel will make this rifle the envy of your friends. The well-balanced hardwood Monte Carlo stock has a raised cheekpiece on both sides, making this rifle truly ambidextrous. A ventilated rubber buttpad helps keep the rifle snugly in your shoulder while softening the recoil. The cocking effort is relatively light and may be suitable for some younger shooters (with adult supervision). You can customize the trigger let-off to your personal tastes, because the two-stage trigger is adjustable. When you cock the rifle, an anti-beartrap mechanism automatically engages to protect your fingers. If you use Gamo Raptor pellets, you will get maximum velocity from your rifle. If you use lead pellets, your velocity will be up to 1,000 fps. Important safety information... Don't forget to click on the AMMO link to stock up on pellets. The ACCESSORIES link has a list of fun targets and safety gear you'll want.... Ambidextrous rifle with 3-9x40 scope and rings. Up to 1,200 fps with Gamo Raptors and 1,000 fps with lead pellets....

Summary: Gamo Air Rifle 2009-10-12
Comment: I had to return this rifle because of major damage incurred during shipping due to very poor packaging by the shipper - they shipped this rifle in the original "store display" carton without further packaging to protect from damage by normal shipping "wear and tare". I didn't want to take a chance on a second attempt for correct packaging so I got a full refund instead.

Summary: Accurate Air Rifle 2009-08-08
Comment: This air rifle is a good value for a high powered pellet rifle. Expect a half inch group bench rest at fifty feet. Good scope for the price. GAMO tech. support very fast regarding e-mail question. A variety of ammunition choices make this a good hunter as well as an inexpensive plinker.

Summary: Pretty close to being a tack driver 2009-05-29
Comment: This gun has now been in my hands for a couple of weeks. In that time, I have shot well over 200 rounds of Beeman pointed pellets. After getting the scope zeroed in, at 25 yards, was able to achieve a very tight group. Instead of holes, I was cutting paper, as the grouping was that tight. The scope was to have been bored sighted, but don't think this was the case as it was not even close when the gun was first shoot. Be ready to spend some time to zero in. Once done, it seems to hold the settings.

The scope does provided a bright picture, but it could be a bit sharper when it comes to being focused.

After zeroing in the scope, I wanted to check out the drop of the pellet at longer ranges. Placed a cup out near the 50-yard line, thinking if I fire at it, I should be able to see some dust before the cup that would give a good idea of pellet drop. With the first shot, the cup jumped. Thought OK, this must have been one of those lucky things. Taking a second shot, the cup again jumped. So zeroing the scope at the short range I did, 25 yards, I was still able to hit a target at near 50 yards.

The tiger is a bit stiff, but you are not paying for a high-end target rifle here. The first few shots were rather loud. After several shots had been taken, the sound was a bit softer. The loudness may have been the results of oil left over from the manufacturing process, as there was smoke only for the first few shots.

Cocking the rifle does not take much effort and the pellet loads very well with the skirt being flush with the end of the barrel. Finding a few pellets that had been fired allowed me to see the rifling marks. These were good and were very uniformed around the entire pellet.

There are just a couple of minor things that could use improvements. The sharpness of the scope. Again, not bad, but could be better. And the trigger pull could be a bit lighter. Even with the adjustment screw, it is still a bit stiff. But my target rifle could have spoiled me here.

Over all, this is a fine, adult fitting, pellet rifle for the price.
