Solid Gun - Built to Last,

This review is from: Diana RWS 350 Feuerkraft Pro Compact air rifle (Misc.)
This purchase is my second attempt to buy a high end airgun. I purchased and returned an RWS Model 34 Pro Compact. The Model 34 had a bit of a "sproing" sound when firing and I had trouble shooting it consistantly on target. The gun looked great but I just couldn't love it the way I wanted to.
Instead I purchased the Diana RWS 350 (.177) Feuerkraft Pro Compact (about $100 more). Right out of the box the gun felt more solidly made. The stock is nice but very plain. Nothing to get excited about. The metal work and fit and finish are excellent. The mechanism for cocking feels very solid and the barrel snaps shut with authority. This is no lightweight at 8 pounds. Hold a gallon container of milk out in front of you for a few minutes. That's about what it weighs! This is not a gun for kids.
I chose the .177 caliber because there are many more pellet weights and types available than there are for the .22 caliber. (If you are a serious hunter you may want the .22...Read more

I have seen this air rifle compared to a model 1903 centerfire rifle, elsewhere. I would agree. Solid, consistent construction. Single hole accuracy is there, if I do my part. Although I replaced the RWS scope with a Hawke 3-9x40 the scope that shipped with the rifle appears to be well made. This is the 'bang for the buck' model from RWS. Oh, yes, I bought the .22 caliber rifle, to take advantage of the firepower this rifle produces.
My only problem? The wife keeps asking when the squirrels that stare into our house will be gone!

I was so pleased with the .22 version that I also bought the .177 caliber rifle. It, too, is very well made and gives one that sense of 'pride in ownership one gets from a finely crafted tool. Yesterday, I tried it on a squirrel raiding our bird feeders. I would say that the .177 is adequate for squirrels, with accurate shot placement, out to 30 yards. However, if your goal is routine pest...Read more

I did a fair amount of research on the internet before choosing this gun. This is the first air rifle I have ever bought. I'm no expert, by any means, but this is an outstanding gun! To me, it does not look and feel like a "bb gun". This is a high quality gun that my son will be able to pass on some day. It weighs more than a "regular" bb gun, but to me, that means it is worth having. We have tweeked the scope for my son and we really enjoy using it. Would I buy it again? Absolutely, yes.
