This review is from: Denix Luger P08 Parabellum (Sports) I needed a training tool representing the toggle-lock action to teach a very basic make-safe clearance process should one be encountered in the field. This one works well. The magazine release and toggle-lock function close enough to a real P08 to suffice. The take- down lever works as well, and allows you to simulate the first stage of a break down realistically. This is not something I needed, but is noted for others reference. It seems to be well made (of some sort of alloy) and painted black. It is probably somewhere close to realistic weight, which was not of major importance, but at least it is not a hollow piece of molded plastic. Another pro is that it is made in Spain. It's not made in the US, but at least it's not China. My only reservations are that the safety, while represented, does not move, and the price. The price may be fair depending on your intended purpose, but it was a little more than I hoped to spend for a training...Read more 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Shane O'Neill (Illinois) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Denix Luger P08 Parabellum (Sports) This is an acceptable replica of a Japanese or Eastern-European knock-off reproduction Luger. I am going to give a fairly critical review of this product, despite the fact it is a replica for less than $75, because it is being sold as a replica of a very famous gun. The fit and finish is fairly close, the cocking mechanism, trigger, and magazine release all function in this replica as they would on a real German Luger. The safety does not work, it also seems that field stripping this gun like you would a regular Luger is impossible. Size and weight are almost the same as a real Luger, although the replica feels lighter than the German made S/42 I am comparing it with. The magazine will not take 9mm Luger shells, it is too small/narrow for my 9mm Luger dummy shells. The markings are odd; stamped on left side, on the upper is 1720 P-08 PARABELLUM. The opposite side is marked DENIX MADE IN SPAIN (This is expected since it's a Denix made replica). The real 08s that I have...Read more |
