About Daisy More Americans have taken their first shot with a Daisy BB gun than any other brand. The company's roots trace back to the late 1870s in Plymouth, Michigan, the result of a collaboration between the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company and Plymouth Air Rifle Company. Company founder, watchmaker, and inventor Clarence Hamilton developed an all-metal air gun of his own design, which was originally a bonus item sold to every farmer who purchased a windmill. When Hamilton presented his prototype to the company's board of directors for examination, General Manager L.C. Hough test fired the weapon and exclaimed, in a popular colloquialism of the time, "Boy! That's a daisy!" So that's what they named the gun.
By 1895, sales and popularity of the Daisy had grown so rapidly, the company ceased manufacturing windmills, focused exclusively on producing air guns, and changed its name to Daisy Manufacturing Company. The company has continued to grow over time -- adding models like the renowned Red Ryder, innovative new PowerLine products for advanced shooters, Avanti guns for match competition, and a Winchester-branded line -- and is now based in Rogers, Arkansas.

I had a Powerline 45 in the early 90s, and this newer version is quite different. The most obvious difference is that there are no moving parts on this gun; the hammer doesn't move, the thumb safety doesn't move, and there's no removable magazine. At first, it was a little bit disappointing to see it simplified almost to the point of a water pistol, but once I thought about it I decided it might actually pay off in the long run. All those moving parts on the old version, which made it a bit more realistic, ended up wearing out and causing the gun to misfire and eventually break down completely. There's no worry about that here. I'm still a little bit wary of an airgun that's almost completely made of plastic, but as long as nobody throws it against a wall it should be fine for years to come.
Initial power is definitely good. I have no doubt that you could kill a squirrel with it if you were so inclined. The sights aren't adjustable (no...Read more

I'm on my second Powerline 15XT pistol and I am experiencing the exact same problem as the first. There is a clear plastic seal where the CO2 cartridge nozzle fits in the handle and this seal is total garbage. This seal has now failed on two consecutive 15XTs. The company will send you additional seals when you call them but that is a sad way to do business - they should fix the design flaw. I use the pistol on occasion (about once or twice a week) but after the third CO2 cylinder you can throw it in the garbage. The pistol simply will not take the fourth cylinder - it will immediately leak when you try to insert a new cylinder displacing all the C02 into the air. Again, this is my second 15XT (less than one year old) with the exact same issue. I will not buy another.
