Summary: Good Gun 2008-05-30
Comment: Originally I had ordered a R72 pulse gun, but the shipper sent me instead a R74. I quickly looked up the specs and found that i had lucked out. The R74 Pulse has more fps (330), more capacity(around 350?) and looks a heck of a lot cooler.
Major Pros:
-Lots of metal (the gear box, barrel and extension stock) and solid plastic everywhere else (hand grips are especially tough and they're solidly screwed in: no wobbling)
-Useful as a CQB (Close Quarter Battle) weapon and as a medium range weapon too. It shoots straight for about 30 yards and then curves upward, all though adjustments to the hop up can improve this a bit. And it can be used like an uzi (one hand!) because it's so small!
-Nice rate of fire, although nothing spectacular.
Cons:
-The butt of the stock partially broke when i dropped the gun (it is plastic). Nothing essential has ever broken however.
-the Sight is bothersome/useless. It rotates four different sight holes around, but once you get one you like it won't stay put.
Things you should know:
-The mag is a wind up mag: which allows it to be hi capacity but is also annoying to do in the heat of battle. It takes probably about ten 'winds' to get the 'true' magazine full.
-I highly, 110% recomend that you fully charge the gun the first time (6 hours straight); i tried only 4 hours and the battery freaked out. I set it back in for another 3 hours and it has been fine ever since.
-Only use .20 or higher bbs, .12 make it clog easily.
Over all its a good sub machine gun at a reasonable price (I, of course, got mine for the price of a r72 :P) that packs quite a punch. The welts i inflict look better than the ones i receive by far.
