A unique all-weather stock design and fiber optic scope give this rifle an all-business look and feel. |
The Trail NP All Weather air rifle, from Crosman's Benjamin brand of guns, features a durable, all weather wood stock and rugged break barrel design. The 0.22 caliber weapon provides 16% more downrange power than common 0.177 calibers, and an impressive 23-foot-pounds of muzzle energy fires at velocity speeds of up to 950-feet-per-second (FPS).
Note:It is common-practice to shim a scope for sighting-in.
Break-barrel pellet rifles such as this one, require a different holding practice vs a traditional pneumatic pellet rifle. The gun should be held using the “Artillery Hold,” which is basically just letting the fore arm of the rifle rest on an open palm vs holding the gun tightly".

Excellent accuracy and value but ditch the trigger,

This review is from: Crosman Benjamin Trail NP Hardwood .22 Caliber Nitro Piston Air Rifle with Wood Stock (Includes 3-9 X 40mm Scope) (Sports)
Here is my initial review of the Benjamin trail NP .22 rifle with hardwood stock. I went for the standard and not the XL as I wanted a quieter gun and figured accuracy would be better if I stayed sub-sonic. I am in Canada so could not buy from pyrimade air or amazon so I bought from lebaron. Out of the box the gun is beautiful. Finishing problems reported by others are mostly absent. Small scratch marks on stock near one of the front screws, otherwise finish is fantastic.
Weight of the gun is 2932g, weight of 3-9x centerpoint scope (not illuminated version) is 562g, weight of sling is 57g = total 3551g or 7.8 lbs. I am 6'4" so length of stock feels a little short by 1-2" but not intolerable.
The only pellets I have so far are the Crosman Premier HP at 14.3gr. Shots chronographed in my basement about 5' from muzzle on a Beta Chrony. I did not scope the rifle for the first 100 shots as I new recoil would be more vigorous. 1st shot ever was LOUD - 1016 fps...Read more

Wasn't quite sure of what to expect from this or any other pellet gun for that matter in this price range....Grew up using a Crossman 766 for varmit control when I was younger.
Recently, a gang of squirrels in the "wood hood" starting making trouble with the local woodland creatures and ravaging my bird feeders in the process.
Now, there's a new sheriff in town.
Right out of the box, the .22 cal. Nitro Piston Trail was incredibly easy to use. Set up of the scope only took minutes. Doped the scope for 30 feet and its been squirrel decimation ever since. Slightly louder than I expected given the write up of the Trail's quiet delivery but the break in period is still in the honey moon stages so we'll see.
The only thing I don't like about the rifle is the trigger. There's nothing smooth/easy about it. I've since ordered the GRT III as a replacement and awaiting its arrival. I ordered mine after reading additional reviews of this...Read more

I was wanting and looking for a Nitropiston rifle that was affordable. I was checking on other brands like Gamo or Crosman but the prices were a little high for my budget. However, the price for this Benjamin was acceptable.
It includes a very good looking and very functional riflescope. The sling has embroided the Benjamin logo, but the "anti slippery" material is poor. Let's hope it last enough.
The rifle was received in a sealed box with the items described. It clearly says "MADE IN CHINA". Manufactured for Crosman in China. The very first I did after pulling out the box thing was tighten the screws, that were loose enough to think "Why they sell a product with such weak torque?"
After mounting the telescopic sight, the first shot sounded like a normal spring rifle; very loud, but after some shots, the loud noise decreased little by little.
Talking about the wood work on the stock: pretty decent, but it looked glossy and alike clear...Read more
